Who takes care of new plantings?
New plantings also depend on care after installation. Agree on watering, monitoring, and any maintenance visits before plants arrive so responsibility does not fall between you and the installer.
Ask for site-specific care instructions
Request written instructions for the actual plants and growing medium supplied. They should explain how to assess watering needs, what signs to monitor, and other care tasks. One fixed watering schedule for every planting may not account for weather or location.
Confirm access to water and how care will happen in practice. If you will be away, name a caretaker or book visits separately. The plan needs to work during vacations too.
Separate installation from maintenance
Establish whether delivery covers planting only or also initial care and a checkup. Record who monitors supports, protective measures, and mulch where used. Ask how to report problems and what information the installer needs to assess them.
If plants come with a separate warranty or commitment, request its terms. Check care obligations and what a possible replacement includes. Do not assume the installer automatically bears responsibility for every later growth problem.
Record the starting condition
Take overall photos of the completed planting and keep the plant list. Note changes and agreed care visits. Photos give a professional more to assess than a description alone.
Monitoring and care can be included in seasonal yard services if you do not want to handle everything yourself. Ask the quote to show tasks and the basis for visits so the planned care continues after installation is complete.
