Evaluating an app development quote
An app development quote should identify the intended behavior, deliverables, and your own work. Total prices are comparable only when design, data migration, connections to other systems, and rollout are scoped consistently.
Check what the proposal commits to
Ask for a description of users and their main tasks. Distinguish a committed function from an initial estimate or a feature to be designed later. For time-based pricing, ask for estimated effort, progress tracking, and decision points.
Ask what you must provide: sample data, content, credentials, or decisions. If your business cannot complete that work in the agreed time, the project schedule will change too.
Clarify what integrations actually include
A connection to another system can mean very different things. Establish which information moves, in which direction, how often, and what happens on error. Ask about dependencies on other providers’ services and licenses.
A one-time import of customer records, for example, is different from continuous two-way synchronization. Ask the supplier to illustrate the difference with an everyday scenario so you compare the same service.
Agree on acceptance and what follows
Record test scenarios, your acceptance stage, defect handling, and release responsibilities. Ask about maintenance, support, backups, and documentation. Clarify the rights and materials to be handed over too.
A clear first-release scope reduces ambiguity in quotes. Ownership and provider-change terms affect what happens afterward. Get written clarification of open points before choosing; a persuasive presentation does not replace defined deliverables.
