Catering prices: compare the complete service
Catering cost depends on service style, staffing, tableware, and venue facilities as well as the menu. A per-person price is comparable only when you know which services it includes.
Describe the event arrangements
Give the timing, location, approximate guest count, and type of meal. Explain whether you want food delivery alone or presentation, serving, and cleanup too. Describe the kitchen and venue equipment as well as you can.
Ask the caterer to clarify missing information. Otherwise, a quote may assume equipment or staff responsibilities that do not match your event.
Separate food from service work
Check the menu, portions, drinks, tableware, linens, transportation, and staff. Clarify working hours and extra-hour charges. Ask whether cleanup covers only the catering work area or other agreed parts of the venue.
Compare quotes at the same service level. Delivered food and a fully managed meal are different purchases even if the menus look alike.
Confirm quantities and changes
Ask about the final guest-count deadline, minimum billing, and dietary requirements. Get change and cancellation terms in writing. Compare the full price including applicable taxes, not just the advertised starting figure.
Choosing a buffet or table service affects staffing and the schedule. Dietary requirements and changes in guest numbers need a shared information list. With those agreed, the caterer can plan for the event and you can see what remains your responsibility.
