A useful Helmi search starts with your situation
A useful Helmi search starts with the situation you need help with. Explain what you want to achieve and where. Your description helps find suitable businesses and gives you a starting point for requesting quotes through Helmi and comparing the responses.
Start with what you already know
A short description is enough for your first message. These four questions can help:
- The need: What needs doing, or which problem needs solving?
- The setting: What space, object, or situation does the work involve?
- The location: Where is help needed, or can the work be done remotely?
- The timing: When would you like the work done, if you know?
For example: We need regular cleaning for a small office in Tampere. Our team works there on weekdays, so we would prefer visits outside working hours. The areas to clean are the offices, kitchen, and restroom. We would like a recommendation for how often cleaning is needed.
That description explains your goal while leaving room for the provider to suggest a practical solution. You do not need every answer at the outset.
If you do not specify a location, Helmi will ask. State where the work is needed rather than relying on the language of your message to imply a country. Mention whether the work can be done remotely too.
Explain what makes your project different
A relevant detail can help identify the right experience. For example, preserving the original appearance of an old piece of furniture is a different goal from adapting it to a new use.
Mention your main preferences and constraints: a material you want to preserve, the number of guests, the space available, or a date that cannot move. Say where you would welcome a professional’s suggestion. This helps a business understand what a successful result means to you.
Be clear about what you do not know
If the measurements, approach, or scope are uncertain, say so. “I do not know whether this old door can still be restored” is useful information. It may mean that the first service you need is an assessment.
You do not need to know the right job title. Describe what you have noticed and what you want to change; you can work out the technical solution with a professional. Share the information needed to understand the job, and agree on matters such as access arrangements with the business later.
Move from searching to comparing businesses
Helmi’s follow-up questions help you fill in the description and consider businesses in relation to your needs. You can correct an earlier estimate or add a new preference as the conversation develops.
Helmi suggests suitable businesses. Use its list or add and remove recipients. Review the quote request Helmi prepares and approve sending in the app. When businesses reply, compare their proposals with your original goals and discuss the differences with Helmi.
Start with Helmi Search (opens in a new tab) by writing one or two sentences about your situation. You can refine the details as you go.
