A magician on stage or among the guests?

Choose the performance format based on whether you want one shared show or entertainment for small groups. Close-up magic and a stage show need different spaces and places in the schedule.

Consider how guests will participate

Close-up magic can work for small groups during a reception or another informal part of the event. A shared performance needs everyone to see and hear at once. Ask the performer what suits the guest count and celebration.

Explain the age range, language, and preferences for audience participation. Not every guest wants to perform, so discuss how participation will work in advance.

Check space and technical needs

For a shared show, clarify the performance area, sightlines, lighting, and sound. Entertainment between tables needs room to move and timing that does not conflict with serving in the same space.

Ask the performer to assess the plan using photos or venue information. A large audience may not all have time to see close-up magic during a short booking.

Agree on content and timing

Record duration, possible segments, and preparation time. Clarify whether information about the guest of honor or company is needed and what customization costs. Ask about travel, equipment, and change terms too.

The performer quote checklist helps with booking. Add the confirmed program to the shared event schedule and name a contact. A clear time slot and a format suited to the audience support success beyond simply having the performer present.
